Odisha government will contend for heritage status from Unesco (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) for Bargarh’s famous Dhanu Jatra, arguably the world’s biggest open-air theatre . It’s the festival of legendary dramatic story of lord Krishna (from birth to king ceremony) and open air festival between two village (Largest drama pandal in the world). Where two villages are involved in this festival for 11 days. Each day is the different chapter of that legend live story display by the villager.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi who made a detailed review of the preparations for the three-day flagship event on Tuesday confirmed that Kangaloo will be the chief guest, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Pravasi Bharatiya Express.

Odisha govt recently unveiled ambitious plans to elevate Bargarh Dhanu Yatra to international status. The 2025 edition of the festival is scheduled to be held from Jan 3 to 13.
Odisha Culture minister Suryabanshi Suraj announced a financial package of Rs 1 crore for the festival, with an additional Rs 50 lakh earmarked for live broadcasting and digital initiatives. In a first, the event will be live-streamed on LED screens across major cities, including Bhubaneswar.
